These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

Rendezvous, 8th October 1915
“We were a full
day out on the sea again before we saw land. Then on the 8th we saw
some Islands on the West coast. That was where two French gun boats met us and
escorted us to the base for troops bound for Gallipoli.”
