These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

"Rifle inspection and bathing parade. Still no news of the aeroplane which went out into the desert.
(It is) reported that the Turks are massing for an attack on Kantara, so our own line was made stronger with men and artillery."
