These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

5th and 6th of December 1916
"The 5th; Left the Isle of Crete about half past one in the afternoon with one escort. We were clear of the coast about 9 o'clock at night."
"The 6th; A storm past the ship on our way to Malta."
