These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

"Rifle inspection and rapid firing in the trench. All quiet out in the desert, enemy retreated backwards. Our own aeroplanes up all morning doing scouting."
