"Bit of excitement in the camp. One of our own planes came a crooker as it was making its way to the Turkish lines along with another two of our planes. They were going out on an air raid and one of them had to come down, as his engine was over-heated, he came down about four miles from our redoubt. Then one of the planes came along and dropped a message to us asking us to go out to the assistance of the aeroplane. We went out and had to carry it in pieces. The pilot escaped very luckily with his life as he was carrying 12 bombs. He came down tail first."
