These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

4th and 5th August 1916
"On the 4th the enemy attacked on our front at 4 o'clock in the morning, they came on in masses and our machine guns played havoc with them. We captured 3000 prisoners."
"On the 5th we were still bringing in more prisoners."
