These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

5th July 1916
"Captured 100 camels and men out in the Desert. The Turkish were preparing to make another attack on Kantara, but our aeroplane brought in the information that they were massing. Commander Samson headed the Flying Corp."
