These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

9th May 1916
"Rifle inspection and bayonet exercise in the forenoon and bathing parade. Got a small letter mail.
The D Comp. of the Camel Corps went away from here about 12 o'clock in the day. It was going out to the Desert to take over some transport work, making preparations for a new redoubt line for our camp."
