These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

"Rifle inspection and bathing all day. At 2 o'clock in the afternoon a big French liner came up the Canal with troops and passengers on her. Church parade at 5 o'clock in the evening. "
