These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

29th May 1916
"Rifle inspection and about 10 to 11 0'clock in the morning a big P&O liner went down the Canal. At 5 o'clock in the evening a big troop ship past the post, it was going to Mesopotamia."
