These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

"Fatigue, and about 6 o'clock in the morning one of the P.O. Liners went up the Canal. All quiet in the desert."
