These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

The Straits. The 1st and 2nd October 1915
"First sight of land which we got was Cape St.Vincent, that on the Spanish coast. Then at night we were in the Straits of Gibralter. Went through them that same night, (of the 2nd) between 8 and 9 o'clock"
