These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

"1st; Rifle inspection in the morning, afternoon maneuvers."
"2nd; Maneuvers in the morning. At 1 o'clock one of our own aeroplanes passed over the camp."
