These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

11th and 12th August 1916
"11th, Transport very busy all day. Bit of a fight with the Turks, got a few more prisoners some Germans among them. Our unit came to Kantara and is making preparations to go out into the Desert."
