These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

24th July 1916
"Our aeroplanes came in with information that the Turks had made three lines of trenches during the night and were massing for an attack on Kantara. About 8 o'clock at night an armoured train passed our post on the way to Port Said."
