6th May 1916

"Rifle inspection and bathing parade. No news of aeroplane. In the early morning the Artilliary and one of the French Monitors had some firing practice. About 1 o'clock in the afternoon a French Battle-Ship went down the Canal and came up at night about 8 o'clock, and a big troop ship came up at the back of it full of Australian reinforcements."
