These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

28th May 1916
"Rifle inspection about 10 o'clock. About 11 a big passenger ship went down the Canal. About 8 o'clock in the evening a big troop ship went up the Canal, it was full of Indian soldiers on their way to Marseilles."
