These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

11th February 1916
"6.30 am breakfast, 7am parade in fighting order. 10am inspection of kits, which I had more to inspect. We got payed then we had a walk round the town."
