These are the diary entries of Private Peter Jack (1044) of the Lanarkshire Yeomanry, B Squadron. A native of Blackridge. It follows his experiences during the First World War campaign on the Gallipoli Peninsula and later in Egypt, as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.

25th and 26th December 1915
"They gave us a very hot Christmas. They shelled us very heavily that day, the 25th, we had three killed. The 26th very quiet except a shell now and then."
